Recently the FBI issued a warning regarding a computer scam, in which peoples receive a call on their mobile phone from a well know Software Company and they ask you to get access on your laptop or computer remotely because they are receiving error messages from your computer. They will claim that they have detect a virus on your system and will fix it remotely after receiving fee. Once these scammers get access on your computers, laptops and credit card number then they charge fee from $50 to $450 and instead of removing virus, they install them. According to FBI tens of thousands of laptop and computer users have becomes prey of such scams.

It is very easy to protect yourself from these scams. Hide your credit card numbers from others. Always avoid to give access on your personal computer or laptops. Here are some tips, if you follows these then you can protect yourself from viruses, Trojan and malware.

1. Use Antivirus Software

Install antivirus on your systems to protect them from viruses. Use latest and updated antiviruses if you can pay their annual subscription fee, otherwise use their free versions. You can install Avast, Avira, and others free antivirus to protect your PC from hackers.

2. Always Use Latest and Updated Software

Hacker’s uses different ways to hack your systems and try to steal your secret information’s. They founds bugs in current version of software and use these flaws for their purpose. To protect users from the hackers, the software makers companies i.e. Microsoft and Oracle regularly update their software to fix bugs that might be exploited by hackers. So always install antiviruses to protect your computers and laptops.

Never click on the links until unless you have not 100% surety that it is not scam. 5. Use A Strong Password

A strong password is a security of your data. Strong password mean a combination of letters, symbols and numbers. It make difficult for hackers to steal your data. Never use simple or common passwords because when there is attack of hackers on a computer, laptops or any other things, then they apply most commonly passwords combination on it and try to get access on your system. If you are using these simple / common passwords (i.e. abc1234, 123456 or 123456789) then it is very easy for hackers to hack your computer or accounts. It is the reasons many website don’t allow to use same user name / password combinations.

To create a strong password make sure it should be at least eight character with combination of letters, symbols and numbers. Never tell your password to anyone or write your password at a place where other can read it. Be cautious while filling any form on internet or while making account on any site you needs to make sure that the website or form which you are filling is authentic and will never misuse your personal data.

6. Use Of Window Firewall

Always enable firewall of your computer or laptops because it protect your system from viruses and keep your data secure. Firewall is a built-in firewall software and it work as a security wall.

7. Minimize Your Downloads

You can secure your computer by minimizing downloading files. As it is very easy for hacker to steal your information by these downloaded file on your computers. These files are mostly in “.exe” format which requires installation for executions. So we suggest you to download files from trusted websites.

8. Use A Pop-Up Blocker

Use pop-up blocker options of your web browsers that allows you to stop these pop-ups. It is dangerous to click on these pop-ups as these are malicious and can damage your files or system too. These pop-up come suddenly and users unconsciously clicks on them which will make your system or window corrupt and it sign are slow speed of your computer, crashed files and repeating error messages, automatically system shutdown, new toolbars appears, change your homepage and fast battery draining. If you found that your system is infected from viruses then you should scan your system completely with updated antiviruses or with free antivirus.
